
So once we have this technology just how will it work? How will we communicate with each other and the computer? Just how far can we take it? Who would use it and how?
I shall try to offer some possible solutions to these questions.
Ah, I here you cry, that’s the stuff of fantasy. Well, the rule of thumb made famous by Gordon Moor of Intel, states that, ‘the processing power of computers doubles every 18 months’. By the year 2008 one computer can have the same processing power as every computer in the world today. With the tumbling costs of home computers the reality of this new learning medium could be achieved in our children’s lifetime.
As Terence McKenna says in his book The Archaic Revival (1991), ‘ we are on the brink of another leap in evolution’.
